Brendan has more than 20 years of experience as a lawyer, with a specific focus on the construction and development industries. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he studied architecture. He gives strategic and pragmatic advice to achieve the most commercial outcomes for his clients.
Brendan is highly experienced in the negotiation and drafting of construction contracts and related arrangements for the development and use of property, including joint venture and development agreements, consultancy contracts and leases. He also provides advice on associated matters such as corporate issues, financing, insurance and insolvency.
Brendan understands the practicalities of completing a development and is regularly asked by clients to advise and assist in the ongoing administration of their construction projects.
When formal disputes arise, Brendan represents clients in a variety of jurisdictions, including the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He also advises them on all forms of alternative dispute resolution, such as arbitration, expert determination and mediation.
Brendan is often invited to speak at seminars on construction issues and provides ongoing support to the Australian Institute of Architects in connection with their training and continuing professional development programs.
